Eine Bitte: Wer kann, kann mal bitte die Abschnitte (sofern nötig) im Wiki für den Ati-Treiber aktualisieren. Ich selbst kann nur (und trage) für Arch Linux und Ubuntu Rechnung tragen.

Was FEHLT:
- Xserver 1.8 Support (funktioniert aber wohl, wenn man den Xserver 1.8 patcht)
- Kernel 2.6.34 Support

Neue Eigenschaften:

- OpenGL 3.3/4.0 Unterstützung (jetzt offiziell)

Behobene Probleme:
- "Xorg -probeonly" no longer causes screen corruption or the system to fail to respond

Bekannte Probleme:
- OpenCL™ 1.0 conformance tests have not been run with this version of the ATI Catalyst™ Driver Suite in conjunction with the ATI Stream SDK v2.1. If you require an OpenCL™ 1.0 conformant driver, we recommend that you install the ATI Catalyst™ 10.5 Driver Suite
- Desktop arrangement area may appear empty and fail to display the icon number when Catalyst Control Center is relaunched after disabling or hot-unplugging the secondary display
- Disabling the primary display in clone/dual-head mode may cause Catalyst Control Center not to launch properly after X restart
- Applying display rotation using Catalyst Control Center or XRandR may result in display turning blank with mouse cursor while rotating the display

Das Wikiupdate für Arch Linux und Ubuntu reiche ich später nach.

Soweit ich informiert bin, funktioniert der Treiber 10.6 eigentlich schon mit Kernel 2.6.34, 2.6.35rc und Xserver 1.8, aber irgendwie ist er dafür nicht freigegeben. Die Änderungen sollen wohl minimal sein, damit er mit den Komponenten funktioniert.

Und sollte jemand mit 10.6 ein graues/schwarzes Kästchen-Problem haben: Das wird durch die neue 2D-Renderengine des Catalyst-Treibers ausgelöst und zeigt sich vorallem in Firefox und Thunderbird. Es gibt auch ein Workaround, dass den Treiber dazu zwingt, die alte 2D-Renderengine zu nutzen. Dazu muss man mit Root-Rechten den folgenden Befehl ausführen, wobei der Xserver NICHT laufen darf:

aticonfig --set-pcs-str=DDX,ForceXAA,TRUE

Wenn man das in die /etc/rc.local schreibt (zumindest in Arch Linux), dann muss man den Befehl auch nicht ständig selbst aufrufen. Wenn jemand noch eine andere Methode kennt (zum Beispiel mit der xorg.conf), dann immer her damit.

Weiß jemand wann der Treiber in Ubuntu 10.04 zur verfügung stehen wird?

Und in Fedora 12?

Ich kann nur für Ubuntu sprechen und dort gibt es keine Feature Updates, nur Security Bugfix Updates. Ein bisschen ändert sich deren Politik zur Zeit (zum Beispiel neue Firefox-Releases, die aber parallel angeboten werden), aber ansonsten wirst du den Treiber nicht im Repo finden.

Muss man halt "manuell" installieren.

Geht das ohne Probleme? Weil ich hatte es auch schgon über das (ka wie genau das jetzt hieß) ppa x-repo versucht zu instalieren was ja auch klappte aber wine sagte das dann keine 32 bit treiber da waren... Nutze Ubuntu 64 bit wegen eben der ATI Treiber... Aber die aktuellen aus Ubuntu machen mir zur Zeit mit Wine probleme....

Das Problem kam bei mir jetzt noch nicht, nutze ja auch 64bit Ubuntu und Wine und Co. Und halt den Treiber von der Ati-Seite.

Der Catalyst-Installer kann ja sogar passende Pakete bauen. Ist also gar kein Problem. (Hatte zumindest noch keine, seit AMD Ubuntu offiziell unterstützt.)
